Shipping & Delivery Policy

Last updated:

Woeste Wortel ships from Belgium. Original art, prints and stickers are personally prepared for shipment by the artist. Apparel may be produced and fulfilled by an external production partner.

1. Where orders are prepared and shipped

Original artworks, drawings, art prints and stickers are prepared, packed and dispatched by Woeste Wortel from Stokrooie, Hasselt, Belgium. Packaging is done personally and with particular attention to the safety and presentation of the work.

Apparel may be produced, printed, packed and/or shipped by an external production or fulfilment partner. As a result, an order containing both art products and apparel may arrive in separate parcels and on different dates.

2. Preparation time before dispatch

Because many products are artist-handled and fragile, preparation time is separate from carrier transit time.

As a general guideline, stickers and art prints are prepared for dispatch within approximately 3-7 business days after payment confirmation.

Original drawings and paintings are prepared for dispatch within approximately 5-10 business days after payment confirmation. This allows time to inspect, protect and safely package the work.

Business days exclude weekends and Belgian public holidays. These are preparation estimates, not guaranteed delivery dates. If an unexpected delay occurs, we will contact you where appropriate.

3. Framing

If professional framing is requested or selected, the framing is carried out by an external professional framing company rather than in-house by Woeste Wortel.

Professional framing typically adds approximately 3-4 weeks to the preparation time before the artwork can be dispatched or personally delivered. This period is an estimate and can vary depending on the frame, materials and the framer’s workload.

If a framing delay materially changes an agreed delivery expectation, we will inform the customer.

4. Commissions

Commissioned artworks follow an individual production schedule agreed with the customer. The estimated creation, approval, framing and delivery timeline will be communicated separately as part of the commission process or quotation.

Because commissions are made specifically for the customer, standard stock preparation times do not apply.

5. Urgent orders

If an order is time-sensitive, please contact info@woestewortel.com as early as possible and explain the required date. We will make a reasonable effort to help where possible, but an urgent request does not create a guaranteed delivery date unless Woeste Wortel expressly confirms that date in writing before or after the order.

6. Shipping methods and tracking

The shipping service may vary according to destination, dimensions, weight, value and fragility of the order. Where tracking is available, tracking information will be provided once the parcel has been dispatched.

Large, high-value or fragile artworks may require specialised, insured or otherwise appropriate transport. Where checkout cannot calculate an appropriate shipping solution automatically, shipping arrangements or a quote may need to be agreed before the order is confirmed.

7. Personal delivery of artworks

For certain original artworks sold within Belgium, Woeste Wortel may offer personal delivery by prior agreement. Personal delivery may also be possible for selected nearby destinations outside Belgium, for example certain locations close to the Belgian border.

Personal delivery is offered at Woeste Wortel’s discretion depending on distance, timing, artwork size and practical feasibility. It is not automatically included with every purchase. Any delivery fee and timing will be agreed in advance.

For personal delivery, the risk of loss or damage transfers to the customer when the artwork is physically handed over to the customer or a person designated by the customer.

8. Carrier transit time

Carrier transit time begins only after the order has been dispatched. Transit time depends on the destination, carrier, customs procedures and seasonal demand. Any carrier estimate is indicative unless a specific delivery date has been expressly agreed.

Unless a different delivery period has been agreed, consumer orders will be delivered within the period required by applicable law.

9. Shipping costs

Shipping costs are calculated or quoted based on factors including destination, dimensions, weight, packaging requirements, value and shipping method. The applicable amount is shown at checkout or communicated before the order is confirmed.

Orders containing products fulfilled from different locations may be sent separately. Unless otherwise indicated, the customer will not be charged an unannounced additional shipping fee after the order has been accepted.

10. Risk during transport and transport damage

When Woeste Wortel arranges the carrier for a consumer order, the shipment remains at Woeste Wortel’s risk until the customer, or a third party designated by the customer other than the carrier, physically receives the goods.

If transport damage occurs, contact us as soon as possible with photographs of the outer packaging, inner protection and item. Keep the packaging until the matter has been assessed, as the carrier may request it for a claim.

If the customer independently appoints a carrier that was not offered by Woeste Wortel, mandatory legal rules on the transfer of risk apply.

11. Customs, duties and taxes outside the European Union

Orders delivered outside the European Union may be subject to import duties, local taxes, customs charges or carrier handling fees. Unless applicable law requires otherwise, these charges are the responsibility of the customer and are not included in the product price or Woeste Wortel shipping fee.

Customs procedures can cause delays that are outside Woeste Wortel’s direct control.
